March is National Small Press Month. It’s a 31-day acknowledgment of all the small press publishers and indie authors who offer a refreshing alternative to the oftentimes predictable content generated by the few monolithic publishing houses that dominate the mainstream publishing market.
The small press market has been the place where my stories have found a home – certainly at Flinch Books, the shop that I co-founded eleven years ago, but also at a variety of other tiny but ambitious publishing ventures. I’m talking about places like White City Press, Moonstone, Becky Books, Blue Planet Press, Stormgate Press and a few others.
If you happen to be shopping for books this month, think small. There are plenty of good stories to be found in the little-known corners that are off the beaten path.
