Behold, the King!

June 28, 2025

The King has arrived! Jack of All Comics: A Fan Conversation about “The King of Comics” is available now from Becky Books. Jack of All Comics is a collection of 28 essays paying tribute to the work of legendary comic book artist/writer/creator Jack Kirby – affectionately heralded by longtime fans as “the King” – during the 1960s and ‘70s.

Included in the mix is “One Man’s Weird War in the World That’s Coming,” my homage to OMAC, the futuristic super-soldier that Kirby created for DC Comics in the mid-1970s. OMAC lasted only eight issues (and his saga ended rather abruptly), but he and his weird, dystopian world left a lasting impression on me when I was just ten years old. I’m proud to be among some high-caliber writers in this collection, including Will Murray, Paul Kupperburg, Robert Greenberger, R.A. DeCandido and many others.

Jack of All Comics is a heartfelt hail to the King, and “One Man’s Weird War” is my tribute to one of Kirby’s short-lived and often overlooked creations.
